Big Brother- Newbie Stars is the twenty-fourth season in the TTRS Franchise. It is directly subsequent to Survivor: Bahamas. The season was announced during the merge phase of Survivor Bahamas.
A total of 25 invitations were sent out, however only 16 were casted. The 16 house guests represent some of the most memorable rookies from the 2013 year. To qualify, a person had to have an original season that occured between Season 12- Legends of the Hidden Temple and Season 22- Survivor Bahamas. Along with that, no house guests could have competed in Second Chances Season; if they competed in another Veterans invite only season (i.e. Survivor Fans vs Favorites or Survivor Bahamas) they had to place in the top half of the cast.
Production and Casting
This was the third invite only season in the TTRS Franchise. During the early merge phases of Survivor: Bahamas, newbies from TTRS seasons that aired in 2013 were slated by production as to whether or not they would be considered for this season. However, no invitations were sent until January 2nd, 2013. A total of 26 people were invited to play.
To gain more attention for the season, the TTRS Viewers Lounge was opened, where people could vote on people they wanted to see in the house and any twists that would be used during the season.
House guests officially moved into the house on January 15, 2014.
Gameplay
Unlike many other TTRS Seasons, this season was set as non-live. Each "week" took a total of 3 days. At the start of the week, the HOH Competition is posted, on the following day the results are announced and the nominations occur. Then the 6 players are picked to compete in the POV Competiton, the HOH, 2 nominees, and 3 house guests selected at random. On the next day, the results for the POV Competition is announced and the POV Ceremony is held, after this is completed voting begins. On the third day of the week, the eviction ceremony occurs and the new HOH Competition is posted.
