Survivor: South Africa- CYA Edition is the first series special of the TTRS Franchise, and is based off of the American CBS competitive reality television series Survivor. The season followed The Duel 2.
During this season of Survivor there were 16 Castaways. 16 contestants were all from the CYA Skype Chat, however there were 6 TTRS Veterans in the game. The 16 castaways were randomly divided into two tribes of 8, Bushveld wearing yellow and Karoo wearing green buffs. After the merge, the tribe was named Limpopo with Orange Buffs.
This season featured one major twist, Redemption Island. Once a castaway is voted out, they are sent to Redemption Island where they compete against voted out Survivor castaways who have been voted out. At two predetermined points in the game, the last inhabitant on Redemption Island re-enters the game. Also Exile Island was in play. At Exile Island, players were given 2 scrolls to choose from, with one scroll containing a series of clues that would lead to a past TTRS player. If they were the first person to uncover the correct TTRS player, then they would receive the Hidden Immunity Idol. A total of 4 Hidden Immunity Idols were available this season, however the two from pre-merge where not found. Andrew and Jake ended up finding the merge idols, Andrew played his idol to cancel out 2 votes against him during the Episode 8 Tribal Council.
In the end, Jake won the final jury vote against Brian by a 6 to 3 vote. Bambi won the Underdog of the Season award, Brian won the Hero of the Season Award, Liam won Best Confessionalist, and Jake won the Host's Favorite Player award.
